Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that a public action aimed at the restoration of Mykola Kostomarov Memorial Estate in the village of Didivtsi of Pryluky district (Chernihiv region) would start in December this year.
M.Tomenko dwelled upon the idea of founding such a museum. He stated: "It is a paradox that the life and activity of this prominent historian, literary critic, public figure and one of the founders of the Cyril and Methodius Brotherhood, has not been represented in any museum".
M.Tomenko stated that Mykola Kostomarov had lived in Chernihiv region for 10 years. The estate where he lived and worked during those years has been preserved. M.Tomenko also stressed that the memorial estate of the prominent Ukrainian figure would be renovated within the scope of the public action, the budget funds not attracted.
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and People´s Deputy Valeriy Dubil stated that the rebuilding project of Mykola Kostomarov Memorial Estate would be presented in Chernihiv region in the nearest time. Anatoliy Haidamaka, People´s Artist of Ukraine, and Borys Diedov, Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine, shall assume a scientific and research, and a historical-architectural part of the project.
